Art & Design Explorations
My personal art and design practices, which help me refine myself and better understand society. Through creative exploration, I reflect, experiment, and engage with the world around me.
As a designer, children and toys are at the heart of my creative journey. I believe play is an essential part of childhood, shaping imagination, learning, and social connections. This understanding has driven me to explore the role of toys in a child's world—not just as objects, but as tools of expression, creativity, and joy. My Master’s dissertation was dedicated to the study of folk toys, exploring the deep connection between cultural formation and playthings.
Design Philosophy
Every toy I create is an experiment—an opportunity to engage with children, observe their interactions, and refine my designs to be more intuitive and engaging. My work is guided by curiosity, cultural heritage, and the magic of play. I strive to design toys that go beyond entertainment, fostering cognitive and emotional development in children while keeping their smiles at the canter of my creative process.
My journey in toy design is an evolving exploration of culture, creativity, and the sheer delight of play. I continue to push the boundaries of how toys can shape childhood experiences, ensuring that every design is rooted in cultural significance and childlike wonder.
The Box Library
The idea of the project was conceived when the Karnataka Welfare Association for the Blind (KWAB)
expressed their need to redesign the inclusive park. There are around 150 blind, 250-300 visually impaired and orthopedically disabled students in KWAB, who do not have a space for recreational activities in their premises. This would be of help to all in the neighbourhood, i.e. the residents of Risaldar Street & V.V. Giri slum too.
Being part of the human society we all are expected to be equal and to help each other to fill the gaps. ‘The breath Of Fresh Air’ was an opportunity for me to be a part of such a humanizing process and to fill the gaps in the society and the gaps in my mind. While going through the concept ‘an inclusive place for leisure and play’ I realized that most of all our public spaces are not meant for all. This insight led me to the idea ‘something for all’ and finally I have come up with the concept of designing a library which gives something for all.
Libraries participate in the conscious efforts to humanize the society, to impart education, to preserve the environment and thereby to improve the standard of living and self-esteem especially of the marginalized sections of the society.
Creative Practice
My artistic practice is deeply rooted in exploring diverse forms of visual expression, encompassing drawing, sketching, linocut printing, tie & dye designing, and various crafts. I engage with these mediums to experiment with textures, patterns, and narratives, often drawing inspiration from cultural motifs, folklore, and everyday life. My craftwork further extends into handmade objects, where I blend traditional techniques with contemporary aesthetics, creating pieces that are both meaningful and visually engaging
